DoE Priority Notice Re: Test Administration Manual

posted Mar 9, 2016, 2:31 PM by Geoff Cyr
This was posted on the Maine DoE Newsroom as a priority notice on Wednesday, March 9th.  It pertains to the release of the Test Administration Manual, which will contain the rules and regulations that everyone, most notably proctors, will need to adhere to when administering the tests.  If you recall from a previous news update, the DoE this week released a practice Test Administration Manual, but not one for the real test.  The DOE's priority gives more info on availability of the actual TAM.  Read below.
Wednesday, March 9
President and CEO of Measured Progress Martin Borg has provided the following important update regarding preparations for the 2016 MEA assessment for grades three through eight.  This message is in keeping with Measured Progress’ agreement with Acting Education Commissioner Bill Beardsley to maintain the current schedule for test administration.
Measured Progress will deliver the revised versions of the two remaining manuals (Test Administration Manual, Test Coordinator Manual) and the two remaining webinars (Test Security, Test Administration) for Maine DOE approval no later than 12:00 NOON  ET Monday, March 14, 2016.
We are confident the materials we deliver will be ready for use by the field, pending Maine DOE acceptance of the materials. The materials will be ready for the successful opening of test administration on March 21, 2016.
The Maine Department of Education will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Yes, you read that right.  Hopefully, the TAM will be available by March 21, the day the test window opens.  Stay tuned.  The closer we get to the window with no manual, the more we may have to look at postponing the start of testing in our schools.  We'll do the best we can to digest this all with you.
